This is a blog about the University of Sheffield’s experiences with participating in the JISC course data project.  Sheffield was among 64 higher and further education institutions to receive JISC funding for the second stage of their programme for improving course data processes and systems.  The  focus of the programme is on introducing a new standard (XCRI-CAP: Exchanging Course Related Information – Course Advertising Profile) for managing the course information we share externally.  We are also using the funding and support to promote a joined-up approach to implementation of initiatives like the Key Information Set (KIS) and the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR), to support existing course data projects, and to begin a project to bring programme information into a definitive, central, online repository.
